The tajinaste, or Bugloss, is a native plant of the Canary Islands. Its name in guanche (the language of the pre-Hispanic people) means needle. Hikers can enjoy them in spring when they are in flower. They grow in many different colours but blues flowers are found on Gran Canaria and La Palma.
